This is my last week of blogging and I really enjoy doing it. This class was really fun, interesting, and knowledgeable. I have learnt something about myself that I didn't knew. I am glad I took this class.



Researchers believe shallow gene pool fueling breast cancer

The Bahamas' shallow gene pool and small population is likely the cause of a gene mutation that is seen in 27% of Bahamian breast cancer patients.

      Due to the shallow gene pool and small population in The Bahamas, 27% of Bahamian breast cancer patient is seen with and has gene mutation that related to breast cancer. An aggressive campaign is launched to test 8000 women over four years to determine their risk of cancer and see if they have the mutated gene.

Man found in bushes shot to death

Mortuary services personnel remove the body of a man found shot to death in bushes off Cowpen Road Saturday night.

        A man was found in the bushes of Cowpen Road on Saturday night shot to death. He was shot in his head. This man made the murder count to 96 for the year. The Bahamian society is beyond out of control when it comes to crime. There need to be a stop to this.

Remains found in desert are California couple missing since 2010, police say

Joseph McStay; his wife, Summer; and their two children, Gianni and Joseph Mateo, have not been heard from since the night of February 4, 2010.

     The search is over for a California family who disappeared under mystifying circumstances three years ago. The identity of two of four sets of remains found Monday in the California desert near Victorville are those of Joseph McStay and his wife Summer. They were identified through dental records. Two other remains found nearby are believed to be those of their sons Joseph and Gianni. A positive identification will be done through DNA testing.

Typhoon Haiyan: World Bank offers $500M loan to Philippines as aid logjams persist

   The World Bank has offered the Philippines a $500-million emergency loan to help it construct buildings able to withstand high winds and severe flooding. As government officials and aid workers struggled to reach communities devastated by Typhoon Haiyan 11 days ago.The loan would support rebuilding of buildings that can withstand winds of 150 to 170 mph and resist severe flooding. According to the United Nations, Typhoon Haiyan killed at least 4,200 when it tore through the Philippines with sustained winds of 195 mph and tsunami-like storm surges on Nov. 8. The storm displaced 3 million people, affected 9.8 million and nearly 500,000 homes were damaged.

Paris shootings: Manhunt after gunman opens fire at newspaper office, bank

      On Monday in Paris, the French capital, a gunman opened fire at a bank and a newspaper office, that result in one of the employee for the Liberation newspaper's "Next" Magazine, being shot in the abdomen and arm, and seriously injuring a photographic assistant . A manhunt was underway after a gunman opened fire, before hijacking a car to escape.

   The Ministry of Finance explains how the introduction of the valued added tax (VAT) would put The Bahamas back into a more favorable economic standing.  Minister of State for Finance  Michael Halkitis, recognized the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) for continuing to provide education to keep accountants aware of current trends.

     On November 6, 2013, Jason Ferguson, 32, was accused for murdering Vera Berry and her daughter Indiana Forbes, and was shot in his leg during the incidence. On November 12, 2013, he was charged with the murder of the woman and her daughter. Mr. Ferguson's lawyer request that he be seen by a doctor.

Miracle baby: Girl born at airport after pregnant typhoon victim swims for her life

      On Monday, at an emergency clinic in Tacloban airport, Emily Ortega, 21, give birth to a healthy baby girl, who she name Bea Joy Sagales. Ortega husband has no slightest clue of what took place, has he is in the safety of the capital Manila, which is about 360 miles northwest of Tacloban. Ortega was in an evacuation center when the Typhoon Haiyan hit on Friday, flooding Tacloban. She had to swim for her survival. The baby was named after her grandmother Beatrice, who remained missing Monday.
